The Buddha is known for his simplicity and for his teachings on the nature of the mind. He taught that the mind is comprised of one’s own thoughts and emotions, and so they are no more true than any other things we perceive by the senses. To paraphrase, we all believe in something that is inconceivable, such as the existence of our own thoughts and emotions. We all believe that there is a single self or ego but what we experience when we try to observe this thing called “self” is an endless series of concepts. These thoughts and emotions are equally illusory.
